Green Career Expo
April 19, 2008
GIVE is the proud sponsor of a regional Inland Empire Earth Day at Dos Lagos. An estimated 10,000 people are expected to attend this year’s event. The Earth Day celebration is an event which is designed to educate the public on issues related to sustainability, through exposure to various community organizations. This important regional community event is partnering with prominent organizations throughout the Inland Empire for activities that all families can enjoy. Last year’s celebration included informational booths from environmental organizations, “green” businesses, and public agencies charged with overseeing local water, habitat and other environmental resources. The event also featured a regional speech contest and solar car race for students, which helped in GIVE’s efforts to educate today’s youth about the need to plan for a sustainable future.
This year, GIVE will be featuring its first Earth Day Green Career Expo at Dos Lagos. The Green Career Expo consists of a variety of local organizations and companies that are socially conscious. Students and the general community will have a unique opportunity to network and allow businesses in the region to increase awareness about emerging green career opportunities, as well as educate the public about their sustainable practices and community involvement.
