The California Energy Independence Initiative

Who:
Michael Peevey, president of the California Public Utilities Commission, will discuss the future of energy independence in the Inland Empire and the State of California.

What:
The two-hour symposium, hosted by the Green Institute for Village Empowerment (GIVE), is free and open to the public.

Why:
To learn more about how the state and the Inland Empire might withstand the growing pressures of competing demands for energy and the steps that can be taken to build energy independence.

About Michael Peevey:
Mr. Peevey was appointed president of the California Public Utilities Commission in 2002 by Gov. Gray Davis. As president, he is committed to protecting the public interest by promoting consumer needs and challenges utilities to embrace new technologies and provide safe, high-quality services. He is dedicated to maximizing energy efficiency and demand response opportunities while ensuring California’s environment is protected. Mr. Peevey is a strong supporter of renewable energy procurement requirements for utilities.
