CORONA - Some folks recycle in an effort to clean up the environment.
Other people plant trees hoping it will help the earth's ecosystem.
A Corona nonprofit arts and theater group plans to help the environment by performing three 40-minute environmentally themed skits at Dos Lagos in Corona.
Christian Arts and Theatre will stage the performances at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Feb. 9, 23, March 8, 22 and April 12 in the outdoor amphitheater at the Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos, 2780 Cabot Drive.
"These performances are all about environmental sensitivity and conservation ... to educate children through entertainment with comedy and art," said Ali Sahabi, president of Corona-based SE Corporation, the company that developed Dos Lagos.
The skits will increase the understanding of significant environmental issues, Sahabi said in a telephone interview.
The skits will help engage people to think about environmental issues through entertainment, Sahabi said.
Cyndi Monroe, who founded Christian Arts and Theatre, said Sahabi was instrumental in helping create the skits.
She said the performances will be divided between two groups.
One group is made of teens and young people ages 18 to 24; the other group is children and teens ages 12 to 17.
"We have been rehearsing since early December," Monroe said in a telephone interview. "We've rehearsed for hours and hours."
She said the skits are meant to educate the community on environmental dilemmas.
"Stompin' Out The Trash" will shed light on the importance of recycling.
"Splish Splash: Don't be a Drip" highlights the significance of water conservation, she said.
"What A Wonderful World" celebrates the Earth's beauty.
The groups will perform one skit twice on each scheduled date, Monroe said.
This event is sponsored by the Green Institute for Village Empowerment and the SE Corporation, said Sahabi, who founded the institute.
"We are hoping that it will create an attraction that will help adults and kids learn about conservation," Sahabi said. "We want to empower the public to act and respond in sustainable matters."
